The Value of Being “Open” to Life

“May today there be peace within.

May I trust that I am exactly where I am meant to be.

May I not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith in myself and others.

May I use the gifts that I have received and pass on the love that has been given to me.

May I be content with myself just the way I am.

Let this knowledge settle into my bones and allow my soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.

It is there for each and every one of us.”  ~ Mother Theresa

This quote never fails to inspire me because it contains a very personal and important lesson.

As I have continued on my journey of maturation, I have learned that I am where I am for a reason or a lesson and if I don’t open myself to this, I shall never learn and the lesson will come back again.  So for us to progress in life, we are required to be absolutely open to every moment as it presents itself.

This is not always easy as some of the most important lessons are the hardest to learn.  They test us and are tough to endure but working through them is what really counts.  If we are not open to this and do not give each moment its due and we try to avoid the issue, we do not learn the lesson. We should not be surprised when we find ourselves struggling again with the same issue at some time in the future.  This will continue until we learn the lesson and that is when we grow, we transcend it.

All that I am given is a gift. I am a product of all the good things that have happened as well as all the struggles I have endured, all have been gifts to me and the more I learn to view my life in this way, the less I try to control things.   The challenge is to cultivate inner gratitude and trust and to know that whatever lies before me is for me and it is there for my growth.

This helps me to accept where I am and I have found the levels of anxiety in my life have reduced as I focus on what I can control and let go what I cannot.

I hope this quote that be as inspiring to others as it has been to me.
