John Wooden’s speech for TED validates our stance on what success is. It is not about winning (which is an outcome) but about giving your best effort to an endeavour. When we focus on output and results as an end, we tend to lose perspective of how that end is to be achieved; thus making the ‘journey’ or the means to an end, a factor which can be compromised upon.
In fact, the ‘journey’, the process or the means have great potential to delight and transform and grow an individual to their full potential.
John Wooden is fondly known as Coach and besides teaching English, he has coached numerous UCLA teams to secure amazing wins at basketball.
