Benevolence is about a whole lot more than just being nice. People can only be dismissive of being here to give if they do not understand the complex nexus of character traits and feelings associated with it.
We have a tendency to indulge in the negative and overlook the positive. If there is any work to be done, it is to try to focus on the positive.
Feeling offended and self-righteous is a vanity I can ill-afford. Whilst the deeds or misdeeds of others distract me I’m missing out on the opportunities of my life.
So, why do we turn against those that have shown benevolence to us and given us a hand up?
